Congress Party leader Manish Tewari on Monday asked China not be perturbed about Japan getting cozy with India.

"The difficulty is China and the growth of China which ostensibly while being purported to be peaceful, is anything but peaceful, and is troublesome for Asia," Tewari told ANI here.

"So, therefore, if other Asian nations who have a stake in the peace and stability of the region do get together to talk, China should not take umbrage to that," he added, while referring to a report published in a China daily, which apparently took offence over Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attempting to create a wedge between China and India.

Global Times, a state-run Chinese daily, has reportedly accused Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of "dividing" China and India.

The daily also asserted that in the backdrop of the BRICS and emerging Sino-Indian cooperation, that Indo-Japan ties face "huge uncertainty".
