Entertainment One and China's Alibaba Pictures are all set to co-produce an all-new feature movie based on the beloved animated character of Peppa Pig.
It is to be noted that Peppa Pig is considered an anti-social influence in China. The film got thumbs up from China's censor board, last month. The pic is scheduled to release on February 5th, 2019 to celebrate the Chinese New Year, Year of the pig.
Wei Zhang, president of Alibaba Pictures said that the Peppa Pig series focuses on family values, something that the Chinese audience will connect with. Zhang believes that the film will come as a development in the films for the younger audience in China.
Activists in China have protested against the animated character in past saying the cigar smoking and gold necklace wearing cartoon is more about depicts a gangster culture than socialist values. Citing this reason, the series was discontinued earlier.
