In an attempt to combat the growing problem of embarrassing behaviour of Chinese tourists when abroad, head of China's National Tourism Administration Li Jinzao has announced a new tactic "Public Shaming" to improve tourists' behaviours.
According to Stuff.co.nz, Li said that record of tourist problems would be kept with tourists ranked on the severity of their misbehaviour wherein these citizens would receive messages reminding them to behave when they land at a new destination.
He also said that the tourists would be punished when they disobey.
Li encouraged Chinese tourists to take photos and videos if they come across Chinese nationals who misbehave and pass it on to authorities who would then publicise the evidence.
Behaviour of Chinese nationals has become a source of ire for the nation over the past few years as many stories have erupted online showing Chinese tourists lacking civility or behaving selfishly.
