China has planned to relocate or upgrade around 1,000 chemical plants in the aftermath of Tianjin blasts that killed 147 people earlier in August.

According to the Guardian, the blast at a Chinese warehouse storing toxic chemicals was the worst industrial accident in the country in recent years.

Chinese Industry Minister Miao Wei said that local governments were moving ahead to implement relocation of plants.

According to the department's summary, around 1,000 chemical plants need to be relocated or upgraded at a total cost of around 400 billion yuan.
