Observers of the Sino-US relations have urged Beijing and Washington to rein in their disputes by synchronizing their agendas ahead of the U.S President Barrack Obama's visit here.

The two countries have agreed to speed up negotiations on the Bilateral Investment Treaty, and to expand cooperation in fields including the economy and trade, counterterrorism and military-to-military relationships, as well as culture, during the visit of US National Security Adviser Susan Rice, the China Daily reported.

Rice has said that Obama is very much looking forward to his visit and views it as a "milestone" in the two nations' bilateral relations. Meanwhile Chinese State Councilor, Yang Jiechi, while delivering his message, said that China welcomes Obama's visit and will work with Washington to make it a success.

Pointing to these visits from the US, experts and researchers alike however believe that despite having exchanged barbs this year over maritime issues and security interests, the two major powers showed a clear, shared readiness to "synchronize agendas" and eliminate major distractions.
