American singer Chris Brown's visa application to tour Australia has been refused because in 2009 he attacked his then-girlfriend Rihanna.
Australian immigration minister, Peter Dutton, confirmed the news that the visa has been denied and 28 days has been given to the singer to file an appeal as to why they should be given a visa to enter Australia, the Guardian reported.

Dutton added that decisions on whether a visa will or will not be issued are made after the timeframe of 28 days and consideration of the material presented to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
The immigration minister has ultimate discretion on whether people who have had prior convictions can be granted a visa to enter Australia.
Brown was due to visit Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth in December as part of his 'One Hell of a Nite' tour.
