The upcoming Jesus flick, 'Christ the Lord', which is based on the best-selling novel by Anne Rice has been set for 2016 Easter release.
The Focus Features project, which will be helmed by 'The Stoning of Soraya' director Cyrus Nowrasteh, tells a fictionalized version of the story of Jesus when he was just a boy, and was starting to know his identity and purpose, the Hollywood Reporter reported.
Focus Features chief Peter Schlessel Peter Schlessel had obtained the rights for the film, the script for which was written by Nowrasteh with this wife, when he was running FilmDistrict.
The film which will be financed by Echo Lake Entertainment along with Ingenious Media, will begin filming in Italy, winter 2014.
