With crackers, empty sweet boxes and wrappers littered all over the streets after Diwali celebrations, people across the country said on Friday that the cleanliness campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be taken more seriously.
"There is lot of garbage around, looks like the government is not able to run the cleanliness campaign properly. The Municipal Corporation and people should take the cleanliness campaign launched by Prime Minister Modi seriously. I have never seen so much garbage in Bhopal before," said Santosh Sen, a resident.
Another resident of Bhopal, Pradeep Pandey, echoing similar sentiments, said that instead of littering everywhere, the people should ensure that they collect the garbage in one place.
"There is always litter after Diwali, especially near markets and busy areas. Both the people and the Municipal Corporation should take care that it doesn't happen. People should ensure that they collect the garbage in one place, rather than littering it all over the place," said Pandey.
Vinod Gupta, a resident of South Delhi, said people should follow what Prime Minister Modi is saying.
"The Prime Minister has said many good things, but it remains to be seen whether people follow it or not. People should become aware about all these things," he said.
