Noted lawyer and women rights activist Abha Singh has said that Chief Justice of India (CJI) is insecure and worried that the judiciary will be controlled by the parliament and the politicians.

Advocate Abha Singh said, "When CJI Justice Lodha says that the judiciary, the parliament and the executives should be allowed to work independently, also when he says that only 1000 judges are appointed by the judiciary and the other 19000 judicial appointments are done by the executives, it shows that he is insecure and he is worried that the judiciary is now going to be controlled by the executives, that is the parliament and the politicians".

According to Singh, CJI is worried that justice will come to an end because judges will now be forced to give judgments which are in favour of the politicians.

She said, "Now it will be the politicians who will ensure that people belonging to their camp are made judges of High Court and Supreme Court".

Singh further said, "The law minister has managed to enter judicial appointments commission as a member and now it will be he who will be calling the shots instead of the collegium consisting of Supreme Court and High Court judges".

She also said, "This is the biggest wrong of the process that you have a politician who is going to decide the judges. This would totally destroy the independence of the judiciary".

She said that judges will now be from either Congress camp or the BJP camp and that they would know that to get promotion or to come to the Supreme Court they need the protection of the ministers.

"The basic feature of the constitution says that judiciary should be independent but with judicial appointments commission that is being attacked and this is what Justice Lodha is worried of" she added.
