Australia captain Michael Clarke has insisted that the upcoming Ashes series against England will be played in the 'right spirit', stating that his team will not cross the line when it comes to sledging.

The 34-year-old believes that although sledging played a significant part in matches between the sport's two oldest rivals, he never found the practice useful in deterring the opponents.

Clarke said that there is a line one shouldn't cross, insisting that although both teams might head-butt that line, he is confident his team wouldn't overstep the mark, Sport24 reported.

The skipper further said that he would make sure he is leading the way on that front.

The tourists will face England in the first test at Cardiff on July 8.

Australia claimed a 5-0 whitewash over England in their home series in 2013-14 to regain the Ashes.
