Clarke ditches BBL, opts for commentary

ANI Johannesburg [South Africa]

Ruling out his possible return to this year's Big Bash League (BBL), former Australian skipper Michael Clarke has confirmed that he has instead struck a deal to join a TV commentary team this summer.

"Really excited to announce that I will be part of the Channel Nine commentary team this summer," Clarke said in a video message on Twitter.

Clarke's confirmation comes in the wake of speculations that he might return to play in the BBL for the Sydney Sixers.

The 35-year-old, however, informed that he would play the opening three matches of the Sydney grade competition for his Western Suburbs club, Sport24 reported.

Clarke, who retired from all forms of cricket following the disastrous Ashes series in England last August, had returned to Sydney grade cricket with Western Suburbs in February before featuring in the Hong Kong Twenty20 tournament in May.
