Australian captain Michael Clarke has reportedly donated cricket kit to some of the victims of the Australian bushfire in the Blue Mountains area, where fierce fires caused a large amount of destruction a fortnight ago.

Clarke enlisted the help of his bat sponsor Spartan, who put together two large kitbags, and handed them over to the Springwood Cricket Club, also affected by the fire, with nine families directly involved with the club losing everything in the massive flare-up.

According to News.com.au, the vice-president of the club, Matt Rogers said that along with the people's individual houses, clubhouses also got damaged and coaches also lost kits, adding that the greater cricket community has been overwhelmingly generous.

The Saturday after the fires went through all local cricket was cancelled by the Penrith-based association, the report added.
