Australia ODI and Test captain Michael Clarke has said that his they still have a long way to go before overtaking South Africa as the No 1 Test cricket team after spearheading Australia to a 2-1 series win over Proteas in South Africa.

Clarke also said that considering themselves as the best team in Test cricket, after defeating South Africa in the three match series, would be foolish and the job was far from done, the report added.

According to Sports24, Clarke said that South Africa has 'well and truly' earned their position as the No 1 cricket team and they have achieved 'success over a long period of time' as required.

Clarke also added that he feels Australia is improving as a team, but there is a long way to go before they consider themselves to be the 'number one team' in the world.

Although Australia has never won the short form tournament, Clarke is also reportedly confident of winning their first World Twenty20 crown in Bangladesh this year and said that the confidence of their Test success would help Australia bag the T20 title under George Bailey's captaincy.

Australia currently stands at No 2 in Test cricket rankings and would be number one in the ICC rankings if the beat Pakistan and India in Test series later this year, the report added.
