Australian captain Michael Clarke has backed the talent in his squad and said that the team can still fight their way through the Ashes nightmare, amid calls for outside reinforcements.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Clarke said selectors would decide if extra players other than David Warner needed to be called in from the Australia A squad in Africa or indeed from a list of past Test greats.

Clarke raised hopes with the fact that every batsman in the top seven had made a half-century in the series so far except Shane Watson's 46, adding that consistency was not a problem.

Only one team in Ashes history has fought back from 2-0 down to win a series and Australia has lost six Tests in a row, with one more defeat going to equal its worst-ever losing run, the report said.
