Australian captain Michael Clarke has warned arch-rivals England that his side will hit back for their Ashes loss and will be a much tougher proposition in the forthcoming one-day international series.

According to Sport24, Australia slumped to a dismal 3-0 defeat in the recent Ashes series in England, but they have a chance to gain some revenge in five one-day internationals, the first of which gets under way at Headingley on Friday.

Convinced that his side's high one-day international ranking is an accurate reflection of their ability to dominate in the limited overs format, Clarke said that England should beware of them in the upcoming ODIs given that they are ranked second in ODI as compared to their Test ranking of fifth position.

According to Clarke, Australia has a lot of young players coming through their one-day system in both ODI and the Twenty20 format, adding that they have played well intermittently and constantly at home.

However, Clarke admitted that they need to perform when they are playing away from Australia, adding that he is focused on finishing the England tour on a high note and get back to the 'top of the tree' in the one-day format with their performances.

Meanwhile, Clarke does not see his chronic susceptibility to back ailments as any obstacle to a long career in both Tests and one-day internationals.
