Pakistan continued their dominating run on Thursday as they comprehensively defeated Sri Lanka by 29 runs in the first of the two-match T20 series in Colombo.

Pakistan set a challenging 176-run target after opting to bat first, thanks to Ahmed Shehzad, Shoaib Malik and Umar Akmal, who all scored 46 runs each.

While Shoaib remained unbeaten, Umar made a 24-ball-46 to accelerate their innings.

In reply, Sri Lanka stuttered from start of their innings and could only make 146 within their allotted 20 overs.

Milinda Siriwardana (35), Chamara Kapugedera (31 not out) and Dhananjaya de Silva (31) were the notable scorers for the hosts.

Fast bowler Sohail Tanvir was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan, with returning figures of 3-29.

Pakistan will look to obtain a clean sweep in the second T20 on Saturday after winning the preceding Test series 2-1 and also clinching the one-dayers 3-2 in the island nation.
