The Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for attacking a northwestern central jail in the country releasing a massive number of prisoners, including 30 hardcore militants.
According to CNN, several gunmen wearing police uniforms had entered the premises of the prison and successfully conducted 16 explosions with mortars and rocket propelled grenades in the city of Dera Ismail Khan of Pakistan.
Shoukat Yousafzai, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa information minister, said that the group has freed around 243 prisoners.
At least 12 people including four policemen were killed and seven others wounded in the brazen attack in the prison, the report added.
Meanwhile, Pakistani army officials have denied the claim.
