As 10 CONCAFAF members gave their backing to incumbent FIFA boss Sepp Blatter for the presidency elections in May, he has been likened to Jesus, Nelson Mandela and Winston Churchill.

The declarations were made at the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) congress, with Dominican Republic FA president Osiris Guzman comparing the Swiss to iconic historical figures, also including Moses, Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King.

CONCAFA president Jeffrey Webb said that membership is sending a message that they continue to support Blatter, who is one of four candidates standing for the FIFA presidency, the BBC reported.

The other candidates for the post are formal Portugal international Luis Figo, Dutch FA chief Michael van Praag and Jordanian Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, who, along with Blatter, were all present at Thursday's congress.

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association praised Blatter, who is seeking a fifth term in office after having being in power since 1998, as the father of football. The heads of football federations from Jamaica, Haiti, Turks and Caicos, Cuba, Panama, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Puerto Rico also expressed their support for Blatter, the report added.
