'Confused' directors sharing confusion with 'confused' youth: Subhash Ghai

New Delhi, Dec 5 (ANI): Bollywood maestro director, producer and screen writer Subhash Ghai says movies today are made by 'directionless' director and such movies are watched by 'directionless' youth which makes them (movies) a hit.

The 70-year-old director told ANI, "In my understanding, commercial cinema is pan cinema, which caters to every age group in the audience. However, with change in times, the audience of family drama has shifted to televisions and cinema has entirely gone to the youth. If we talk in today's perspective, I believe I cannot make a movie like the youth wants to see or the kind of movies that are being made."

 

Ghai continued, "Young directors are making movie for the youth. They (directors) are so 'directionless, confused and troubled' that they are making movies on the same issues and showing it to the same 'directionless, confused and troubled' audience. And turns out, such movies are doing well at the box office."

Further, the veteran director and producer, who believe that a director is a star in accordance to the film's subject, said that he is working on the plan to come out with three movies next year which would be directed by youngsters. However, his contribution to the entire project is going to be as a supervisor only.

While ending the conversation, the director said that he is planning to make sequels of his hit movies, however, no plan has been materialized yet.
