Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday said the Mandsaur farmers' agitation was fuelled by the Congress party.
"The Mandsaur agitation was peaceful, but Congress added fuel to the fire," said Chouhan in the state assembly today.
He further announced plans to pay a profitable amount to farmers for their produce.
The Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh witnessed a violent protest by the farmers last month demanding loan waivers and better prices for their produce.
During the agitation, six farmers were gunned down by the police force, thereby drawing criticism from the opposition.
The situation forced the district officials to impose Section 144, and restricted prominent personalities from visiting the violence-hit district.
