Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) (PSPL) president Shivpal Singh Yadav on Saturday filed nomination from Firozabad Lok Sabha constituency. He also accused BJP and Congress of always making false promises.

"The BJP-led Central government had made big announcements before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. But they have not fulfilled even one of their promises," Yadav told media persons here.

"Whether Congress or BJP, they have always made false promises. They did not live up to their promises. The people of India and Uttar Pradesh now only trust us. They trust me. The people of the nation are sad because of their decisions," he said.

Earlier today, Yadav said that his party was in the direct contest with the BJP in Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha polls and will emerge as the single largest party in the state.

"In UP, we are in direct contest with the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls," he said while talking to ANI before filing his nomination papers. "We are going to emerge as the single largest party in the state," he said.

Seven-phase Lok Sabha polls are set to begin on April 11 and will go on till May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.

In Uttar Pradesh, where 80 seats are at stake, polling will be held during all seven phases.
