The Congress party on Sunday castigated the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government in Haryana for its insensitivity and inability to provide safe environment after a woman was gang raped and brutally killed in the Rohtak district.
"It is condemnable. Gang rape cases have become frequent in Haryana. The government is silent; hooligans are ruling and there is no such thing as 'law and order'. The government is completely insensitive to rape cases, that is why women are getting raped," Congress leader and All India Mahila Congress president Shobha Oza told ANI.
Expressing similar views Congress leader Sushmita Deo said, "I hope that the government of the state will do much more than amend laws and I hope that the same people who criticised the government during Nirbhaya, will today practice what they preached."
A 23-year-old woman was brutally gang-raped and murdered earlier last week. Later, her mutilated body was found in an empty plot in Haryana's Rohtak district.
The incident occurred on May 9 and came to light when the victim's body was found in the city's IMT area.
The forensic reports suggest that the victim was mutilated with sharp-edged weapons.
