Congress leader Janardhan Dwivedi on Tuesday criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader for making allegedly provocative and controversial statements, saying that the latter is taking forward its policy of polarization.
"True colours of the Modi govt are now coming out; many of their leaders are making provocative, controversial statements. Influential members of BJP are making disturbing statements which is taking forward their policy of polarization," said Dwivedi while commenting on the discussions that took place during the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting
Earlier, the BJP confirmed that it has issued a showcause notice to Sakshi Maharaj in response to his recent controversial comments.
The party has reportedly given him ten days to reply to the notice.
The action against Sakshi Maharaj comes days after his latest comment - that Hindu woman should "give birth to four children to protect the Hindu religion" - which created a storm, with political opponents demanding an explanation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Apart from Sakhsi Maharaj, the other two lawmakers in the dock are union minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and BJP lawmaker Yogi Adityanath.
