Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday said the Congress party is dividing Gujarat on the caste lines.

"The Congress here has no leadership, it has mortgaged its leadership to such forces which are only dividing the state on caste lines," he told ANI.

He also asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has a track record of providing excellent governance.

Further slamming the Congress Party, the BJP leader said, "As the election nears, it is increasingly becoming a contest between development, political stability on one hand and an opportunist alliance, anarchy on the other. The BJP track record of 22 years is of providing excellent governance."

During election rallies in the poll bound state, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has charged state and central governments of doing little for the poor people in Gujarat.

He had also slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government for demonetisation and poorly implementing Goods and Serviced Tax across the country.

The polling for 182 seats of Gujarat Assembly will take place on December 9 and 14 and votes will be counted on December 18.
