The Congress Party on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with the top brass of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) should be seen as an "insult to the Constitution".

"It is a violation of the tradition and practices of a parliamentary democracy. The prime minister and his ministers meeting the RSS is an insult to the Constitution," Congress leader Anand Sharma told ANI here.

"The Prime Minister and his council of ministers take the oath under the Constitution, that they won't disclose their plans and policies with those who are not under constitutional oath," he added.

Sharma maintained that the RSS is looking after the government and the BJP was merely its political front.

"RSS should accept that it creates the polices for the BJP," he added.

He also criticised the RSS for dictating to the government on policy matters.

"The hypocrisy of the RSS in the BJP stands fully exposed with this meeting, both of them double speak," he added.
