The opposition Congress and the Left have slammed the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led Government in Madhya Pradesh for the various degrees over the recruitment scam that has led to the interrogation of Laxmikant Sharma, a former state technical education minister.

Speaking to ANI, Congress leader Shobha Oza said, "Vyapam is a big scam which has played with the life of one crore students. Many politicians are involved in this, and therefore, this case should be given to the CBI. I believe that strings are attached from the chief minister's office to the bottom."

CPI leader D. Raja said: "It is for the Madhya Pradesh government to explain the position. Mr Chauhan who is supposed to be a moderate and efficient administrator, he must explain the position of his government with regard to this particular case. Let us wait what the Madhya Pradesh Government says first."

A Special Task Force has been constituted for an investigation into the Vyapam scam, and they have detained Laxmikant Sharma, a former state technical education minister, for interrogation today.

The high profile teacher's recruitment scam in Madhya Pradesh is being linked to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's wife, Sadhna Singh.

The recruitment scam had reportedly involved manipulation in the selection process for government jobs conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB).

The written examination was conducted in September last year, and around 55 thousand candidates had appeared for 4,025 seats in the state.
