Former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan on Sunday said the allocation of seats between the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for the upcoming assembly elections in the state would be finalised soon.
"The matter is under discussion by both the Congress and the NCP, and the leaders of both parties are participating in it. The final allocation should be finalised by today or tomorrow," the Congress leader said,
"We don't want the division of secular votes and want a win-win situation for both parties. We are sure that both parties will have a reasonable discussion," he added.
The Maharashtra Assembly polls will take place on October 15 while the counting of votes will be done on October 19. There are 288 seats in the state.
