Congress Party workers staged a protest against the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed-led PDP-BJP coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir here on Tuesday.

Angry protestors began their march from Maulana Azad Road and pelted stones at the police who were trying to bring the situation under control.

"The PDP has joined hands with Vishwa Hindu Parishad supported BJP. They have looted the votes that we gave. When they needed votes, they showed us a different picture. And now, while sitting in the

government, they are doing something else. This is the blackest day in Jammu and Kashmir," said a protestor.

National Conference leader and former chief minister Omar Abdullah had earlier criticized Sayeed for having an alliance with the BJP after a self-claimed BJP supporter tweeted communally-inflammatory comments.

"Mufti Sayeed's allies call for the mass murder of Muslims. Wah Mufti Sahib, wah... These are Mufti Syed and @jkpdp's allies. Amazing how far one can fall for power," he wrote in a series of tweets.
