Holding the BJP-PDP Government responsible for the unstable situation in the valley, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee workers staged a protest here on Monday and asked Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to ensure that peace is maintained in the state.

"For the last few months, the situation of Jammu and Kashmir, especially the Kashmir Valley, is unstable due to the negative approach of the coalition government," Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president Ghulam Ahmad Mir told ANI here.

"Communal harmony, which is the pride and identity of the state, has lost its glory and people feel unsafe here. It's the responsibility of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to monitor the situation and maintain the peace "he added.

The protestors, who raised slogans against the Centre and state government, were later stopped by the police personnel as they marched towards the Lal Chowk.
