The Congress Party on Wednesday rejected all rumours being floated around on party vice-president Rahul Gandhi's visit to Colorado.

"Rahul ji is attending a conference in Colorado. He is travelling to Aspen, US, on a short visit to attend the conference. It is being attended by many top world leaders from both private and government sectors," Congress spokesman Randeep Surjewala told ANI.

"We reject all rumours stating otherwise," he added.

Surjewala said Rahul is attending a conference organised by renowned journalist and thought leader Charlie Rose.

Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had mocked Gandhi's US visit, saying Rahul and responsibility never go together.

"The two R's -- Rahul and Responsibility -- never go together, and, we are learning that, today, yet again, Mr. Rahul Gandhi has gone for a vacation," said BJP spokesman Sambit Patra told reporters here.

"The Congress Party initially comes out and says that Mr. Rahul Gandhi is on a personal visit to a foreign land, and thereafter, the statement is amended to say that Mr. Rahul Gandhi is not on a personal visit, but is going to Aspen to attend a conference," he added.

Rahul Gandhi will be in United States at the same time as Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Congress President Sonia Gandhi too would leave on a foreign trip in the coming days, sources said.
