The Congress on Friday requested the Election Commission to ensure free and fair by-polls in Madhya Pradesh.
Earlier in the day, a Congress delegation led by former Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia met the Election Commission officials over by-polls to Kolaras and Mungaoli in Madhya Pradesh.
Talking to media after the meeting, Scindia said, "We went to Election Commission to request that that they ensure fair elections in Kolaras and Mungaoli by-polls of Madhya Pradesh as BJP is taking many steps that violate Model Code of Conduct."
He added that "we have also complained about the presence of several suspicious administrative officers in these constituencies".
The Congress leader said the EC officials have assured us to verify the facts and do the needful.
The constituencies of Kolaras and Mungaoli are going to bypolls on February 24. Both seats, which are part of Shivpuri and Ashoknagar respectively, fall into the Scindia bastion.
