Congress leader P.C Chacko on Friday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give a statement on the recent ceasefire violation in the Poonch sector of Jammu.
"The unfortunate thing is that in spite of all of the best efforts taken by the Government of India, Pakistan is not ready to listen to reason. It is always said that the Government of India will take stringent action. It is high time that the government should come out properly on the issue. The Prime Minister should make a statement," Chacko told ANI.
"It is so disturbing that our models (borders) have become so porous, ceasefire violations are there. It is the question of the security of the nation. So, it cannot be taken lightly. If this is happening on a regular basis, that means it is a concerted effort by Pakistan to provoke India," he added.
Chacko further said, "How we are going to reply? The Prime Minister has to make a statement. Situation is so serious."
Fresh ceasefire violations took place on Thursday night. Indian troops responded. There was, however, no damage to property, or loss of life.
