Lashing out at the BJP government over its inaction towards Pakistan, Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam on Wednesday said that the government is inefficient in giving a befitting reply to Pakistan's continuous ceasefire violations.

"This government is inefficient in giving a befitting reply to Pakistan's continuous ceasefire violations. This Government is impotent," Nirupam told ANI.

"They had said that we will talk to Pakistan by looking into their eyes. They had said that we have 56 inch chest, but in the last few days we have seen continuous ceasefire violations.Today, also we have heard that our jawans have been killed and this Government is quietly watching,"added the Congress leader.

Ceasefire violations have escalated over the last few days since Pakistan called off the NSA-level talks.

The Ministry of External Affairs had earlier summoned Pakistan's High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit, to register its protest over recent ceasefire violations.

However, Basit blamed India for the cross border firings and said that the Pakistan Government is concerned about it.
