The Congress Party today attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA Government for replacing actor Aamir Khan as the brand ambassador of Incredible India campaign run by the Tourism Ministry, saying it reflects ' vendetta politics' and 'uncultured behavior' on part of the ruling dispensation.

"There was a tweet by the spokesperson of the BJP that Aamir Khan was removed and subsequently they said that his contract was over. This shows their vendetta politics. Whoever is going to be the next ambassador is not very important, but the way Mr. Aamir Khan is discourteously removed, the government must have tagged Mr. Aamir Khan for his government programme instead he was removed and that too very unceremoniously which is the most uncultured behavior from the government's side," Congress leader P. C. Chacko told ANI here.

"This is a kind of negative approach, anyone who expressed their feeling freely is not appreciated in this present regime and the present government they are trying to take vindictive action against those people who don't agree with them," he added.

Khan had yesterday said it was an honour for him to be the brand ambassador for the Incredible India campaign for the past 10 years and added that he would always be there for the service of the nation.

The Bollywood star's comment came a day after a controversy erupted after a section of the media reported that the Central Government had removed him as the brand ambassador of the Incredible India campaign under the Tourism Ministry.

Minister of State for Tourism Mahesh Sharma, however, clarifying his ministry's position on the issue yesterday and said that it was purely a contractual matter with advertising agency McCann Worldgroup.
