Hitting back at the Congress for accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being 'small-minded', the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said thatthe 'frustrated' opposition clearly had nothing left in their arsenal but to fire blank shots at them.
"It's not the Prime Minister but Anand Sharma who is small-minded. He is the one who has been serving and buttering up the family in Congress. His reaction has come in bad taste and poor light because it emphasises that these are the people who ignored every soul who worked for the unity of the nation. They work only to promote a 'particular' family," BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi told ANI.
She also accused Sharma of being Congress' 'stooge' saying that the party's lackeys have nothing left to say except attack the Prime Minister since they had chosen to ignore the contribution of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Criticising the Prime Minister Modi led-NDA Government for focussing solely on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's anniversary and avoiding mentioning former prime minister Indira Gandhi to their satisfaction, Anand Sharma reminded the former that Sardar Patel was an Indian National Congress (INC) leader.
"They (BJP) remembered Sardar Patel because they have scarcity of leaders who, along with Mahatma Gandhi, participated in the freedom struggle... It is also true that he was the deputy prime minister and first home minister of the country. I think it is important to remind Narendra Modi and the BJP the fact that Sardar Patel was the leader of the Indian National Congress," Sharma told the media here at a press conference.
