"Nobody would benefit from this. There is not even a single hut on the road. The road is just dedicated to Badal's family. We would be requesting the President to form a committee to look into the omissions of the Badal Government," said Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa.

"We would request the court to intervene in this. We want to divert the attention of the whole nation to this matter. This kind of misuse we have heard in places like Iraq, Libya but never in a democracy," he added.

"This is the third resort of the Badal family; they have made a six lane road. They are constructing a flyover which is not even required. They are misusing tax payers' money," he said.

"People coming to the restaurant will not have to pay any toll tax. Another new road is being constructed with government money. This is a much more serious issue, it is a misuse of government authority," he added.

The proposed road leads to the Metro Eco Green Resorts in Punjab's SAS Nagar District.

The Badals have major shareholding in the resort.
