The Congress party has targetted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman through 'Chowkidar Chor Hai' poster with an explicit reference to alleged irregularities in Rafale fighter jet deal and the Defence Ministry.

The poster has been put up outside the office of the UP Congress Committee (UPCC) office here.

"As the files related to Rafale have gone missing from the Ministry of Defence, we have made an interesting poster stating 'Chowkidar Chor Hai," said Shailendra Tewari, the man behind the poster.

Talking to ANI, Tewari, who is a UPCC secretary, said: "In the poster, one can see that there is a Defence Ministry office and the 'Chowkidar' is bribing the Ministry and moving out of the office."

Asked if he had created the poster with the permission of Central party leadership, he said: "I have done this on my own because the people want to know about the Rafale scam."

It is worth mentioning that the Centre on Wednesday informed the Supreme Court that certain documents pertaining to Rafale fighter jet deal were stolen from the Defence Ministry and a probe has been initiated into the matter.

Hours after the apex court was informed by the Centre about the theft of vital documents, Congress president Rahul Gandhi demanded the registration of a first information report (FIR) against Prime Minister Modi, claiming that "there is enough evidence to prosecute him."

"There is now enough evidence to prosecute the PM in the Rafale scam. The trail of corruption begins and ends with him. That crucial Rafale files incriminating him are now reported "stolen" by the government, is a destruction of evidence and an obvious cover-up. FIR against Corrupt Modi," Rahul had tweeted.
