The Congress on Tuesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) needs to send a message that it stands by a philosophy of modernism by taking action against such people who indulge in articulating medieval statements.
"The BJP needs to act against all these people in order to send a message that it stands by a philosophy of modernism. But the problem with the Bharatiya Janata Party is that at its core, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party actually share most of these medieval thoughts, which have been articulated. So, therefore, it becomes difficult for them to distance themselves even superficially from these statements," Congress leader Manish Tewari said.
"The question is not in regard to a show cause notice, the question is this gentleman. There are others also who have been giving absolutely retrogressive, medieval and inflammatory statements," he added.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi said that no show cause notice has been issued by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
"If Sakhsi Maharaj is telling that he has not received any show cause notice, it means that no such notices has been issued," she said.
