Goa Rural Development Minister Francisco alias Mickky Pacheco, who is facing a six month jail term, resigned from the state cabinet on Friday.
Pacheco submitted his resignation to Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, who accepted it and sent to the governor.
Pacheco submitted his resignation after the Supreme Court had dismissed his special leave petition against the verdict of Goa Bench of Bombay High Court, in a case of assaulting a government servant in 2006.
Pacheco is the serving MLA of South Goa's Nuvem constituency. He is the chief of the Goa Vikas Party, which is an ally of the BJP in Goa. He was sworn in as minister in November last year.
