England captain Alastair Cook has backed under-pressure Ian Bell to regain form after the latter has been promoted up the order to three for the third Ashes Test against Australia at Edgbaston.
Bell has been struggling with form lately as he has scored just 117 runs in his last six Tests at an average of 10.63. However, the veteran batsman received support from selectors for the third Test at his Warwickshire home ground starting Wednesday.
Cook said that Bell was delighted to be back at three, adding that it was a great opportunity to get in and make his mark on the game at his home ground, Sport24 reported.
Describing Bell as a proven international player, the captain insisted that the 33-year-old would relish the chance to bat at three.
England will seek to bounce back at Edgbaston after Australia levelled the five-match series 1-1 with an emphatic 405-run win in the second Test at Lord's.
