England captain Alastair Cook has kept his side steady as the hosts opened play after winning the toss in the third Test against India.
At the lunch break, England has amassed 78 runs for the loss of a wicket with skipper Cook batting at an unbeaten 48.
Cook is helped on at the crease by Gary Ballance, who is playing on his individual score of four runs.
Sam Robson was the first wicket to fall for the host side as he was caught by Ravindra Jadeja on his individual score of 26 off Mohammed Shami's delivery.
Cook and Balance will resume batting for England after lunch break, as they face the Indian spin and pace bowlers.
