AB de Villiers' brilliant 31-ball ton earned him a salute from Corey Anderson for a 'hell of an innings' after the South African skipper broke the New Zealand all-rounder's record for the fastest hundred in an ODI.

De Villiers 31-ball ton against West Indies was five balls faster than Anderson's hundred, when he set the record against the same opposition in Queenstown a year ago.

Anderson said that records are there to be broken and congratulated De Villiers for what he claimed was obviously a hell of an innings, Sport24 reported.

De Villiers went on to score 149, including 16 sixes and nine fours, from just 44 balls which impressed Anderson whose 131 not out against the West Indies came from 47 deliveries and included 14 sixes and six fours.

The big-hitting New Zealand batsman said that to get 149 off 44 is probably even more special, and described breaking records as just one of those things that happens.

Anderson said that while breaking records, a player is in the zone he believes, and added that they feel like every ball's probably going to go to the boundary, and when one miss-hit it, it sort of misses a fielder and it tends to go for four.

Anderson claimed that it's one of those days where it all comes off.

However, Anderson still does not believe that the new record is unbreakable. He sai dthat one should never say never, adding that 31 balls is very quick so he is not too sure.

Anderson claimed that they have got the World Cup coming up around the corner, so it could be a good chance for someone else to take the record down.
