Spanish striker Diego Costa scored his maiden hat-trick for Chelsea as they came from behind to beat Swansea City and maintain their 100 percent start to the Premier League season.

Swansea took the lead in the 11th minute as Chelsea's skipper John Terry turned a low cross into his own net but Costa equalised just before halftime.

Chelsea's dominance was rewarded when Costa converted a Cesc Fabregas pass, The BBC reported.

As Chelsea opened up a three-point gap at the top of the table, summer signings Costa and Fabregas offered further evidence of the extra edge they have added to a team that finished third last season.

Costa, who passed a late fitness test on a hamstring injury suffered on international duty with Spain, departed to a standing ovation after scoring his seventh goal in four games for Chelsea.

Costa scored the three goals in the 45th, 56th and 67th minute for Chelsea, while striker Loic Remy struck the fourth goal for Jose Mourinho's side.

Swansea's two goals came from Terry and midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.

Swansea manager Garry Monk said that it was a very good first half hour, adding that some of the football was the best they have played this season.

Monk said that he thinks it just showed the world-class quality Chelsea has and in the second-half it took its toll a bit. He added that Chelsea's power and strength was too much.

Monk also said that when one plays the top teams they gauge where they are at and what they need to work on. But, he added that in terms of effort and commitment Swansea were very good.
