A European couple has been sentenced to three months in jail for having sex in the gardens of Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome.
According to an Italian newspaper, the pair was spotted engaging in sexual activities in front of a police station by an elderly woman from the balcony of her home, The Local reported.
When the woman complained, the duo was immediately arrested and made to appear in court, where they were handed down the sentence for "obscene acts in a public place".
The couple's lawyer told the Italian publication that he is astounded by the fact that the court prosecuted two lovers, when far worse crimes happen every day.
