Cow carcass sparks off clash in Indore, 25 injured

Curfew was imposed on Tuesday in Chandan Nagar area of Indore after violent clashes erupted between two communities over the recovery of a cow carcass, as mobs clashed with police leaving 25 people, including 20 policemen injured.

According to reports, enraged over the recovery of a cow carcass, a large number of people of a particular community blocked a road in the Chandan Nagar area.

The mob started pelting stones, blocked traffic and damaged public property.

Police rushed to the spot and in a bid to control the mob and resorted to firing tear gas shells and baton charges to bring the situation under control.

 

Reports state that a Superintendent of Police (SP) and additional SP were among those injured in the violence as police fired tear gas shells to disperse the stone pelting protesters.

The area had earlier also witnessed clashes following dispute between the two communities over of a petty issue related to a game of cricket.
