The Rajasthan Police on Saturday intercepted a truck carrying eight cows in Alwar district's Ramgarh area, and arrested one smuggler.
However, two smugglers managed to flee away due to low visibility and after firing several rounds at the police.
The police recovered eight cows, including two dead ones, from the seized truck.
Medical inquiry of the injured and post-mortem of the deceased cows are being done.
"The police got information that cow smugglers were coming from Chikani side last night. Police blocked the road based on the information. A truck consisting of cows went ahead after the blockade team of policemen tried to stop it. The police arrested a cow smuggler after the truck got trapped in the fields along the road," SHO Ajit Singh said.
The police is questioning the arrested person.
