Communist Party of India Marxist (CPI-M) leader Brinda Karat on Saturday described the Vyapam scam as one that shames the nation, and demanded a CBI probe.

"This is a scandal which shames India at a time, when this government at the centre is talking about a new future for the youth. Under Narendra Modi's own party, the Madhya Pradesh Government has indulged in the worst kind of corruption, as far as the employment recruitment is concerned in which top leaders of the BJP and the RSS have been named. It's not the opposition which is naming them. It is those people who are being arrested naming those people that they are being involved. Therefore it is necessary for a CBI inquiry and to arrest those people," Karat said.

According to media reports, some names of the RSS officials have surfaced in the Vyapam Scam. The names include ex-chief late KS Sudarshan and Suresh Soni.

As per the reports, in a written statement, the ex-controller of examination Pankaj Trivedi told the Special Task Force that ex state higher education minister Laxmikant Sharma had recommended the name of Mihir Kumar for food inspector who was the close aide of RSS leader Suresh Soni.

According to Trivedi, Sharma also recommended the names of 4 more candidates other than Mihir Kumar.

MP recruitment scam or Vyapam scam pertains to manipulation in the selection process for government jobs conducted by MPPEB, which is being probed by the Special Task Force.

The STF had on December 18, lodged two FIRs against former State Technical Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma and 129 others in connection with alleged irregularities in the examination for the recruitment of Grade II and III Contractual Teachers conducted by MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB).

Meanwhile, a case has been filed by lawyer Anand Tiwari who had filed a defamation case representing the Madhya Pradesh Government against Congress leader K. K Mishra for his alleged comments in a press conference on June 21 targeting chief minister Chouhan and his family.
