Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) chairman K.P. Sharma Oli has said that his party would block the Constitution Amendment Bill at any cost as it could put national interest at risk.

He was speaking at a seminar on "Constitution Amendment Proposal and the Question of Nationality" organised by All Nepal Intellectuals Association in Kathmandu on Saturday.

"None of the points in the amendment bill are worth supporting. All the points contain elements that are inimical to national interest," The Kathmandu Post quoted Oli, as saying.

He said the CPN-UML will not let the house endorse the bill.

Oli's remark comes at a time when Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has assured the agitating Madhes-based parties that the bill would definitely get endorsed in Parliament.

Oli said the government does not want elections as it has failed to work swiftly to bring poll-related laws in the country.

He said the country could move into further crisis if the elections are not held at the earliest.
