New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has appointed former Test cricketer Craig McMillan as the team's national batting coach for their upcoming tour of West Indies.

NZC head of cricket Lindsay Crocker said that they had a number of strong applicants from New Zealand and abroad but overall they felt that McMillan would be the best fit for the role.

According to Sport24, New Zealand will leave for West Indies later this month to play three Tests and two Twenty20 Internationals following which NZC is expected to name a full-time batting coach for the international squad.

The former all-rounder has been capped 55 times and has also worked as a batting coach for Canterbury, a domestic cricket team in New Zealand, before making a shift to his commentary career, the report added.
