The cricketing world has expressed their tribute to Australian skipper Michael Clarke, who will bid adieu to the game after the Ashes series.

"Congrats to @MClarke23 on a magnificent career and also to your lovely wife @KylyClarke . You deserve every accolade. Enjoy the next phase," tweeted Australian coach Darren Lehmann.

Former Australian batsman Glenn Mcgrath congratulated Clarke on a fantastic career.

"Loved playing alongside you mate. Well done Pup, really proud," he tweeted.

Former England batsman Graeme Swann wrote on Twitter, "Congratulations to Michael Clarke on a brilliant career. He's the best player of spin I bowled at and a bloody good bloke to boot."

Former Australian cricketer Damien Martyn wished him for his incredible career, adding that Clarke has served his country with utmost respect and true spirit.

Clarke had earlier confirmed that he would retire from international cricket towards the end of the ongoing Ashes series.

Australia failed to defend the Ashes after losing the fourth Test by an innings and 78-run defeat against England at Trent Bridge.

The 34-year-old came under a lot of pressure during the series as he averaged only 16 in his last eight innings.
